How we work

Cohort was born from our graduate school roots at DU & CU, and we are a proudly Colorado centric fund. Our primary focus has been, and will continue to be in companies that seek to build and grow their businesses in Colorado and who also want to give back to this community.  Over eighty percent of our investments are in Colorado start-ups. However, we do make room in our portfolio for great teams building innovative companies regardless of where they are, if there is a good fit.

Initial Investments at Seed Stage

Companies typically have MVP or first product/service and have assembled key management team. Seeing first revenues, but have not turned a profit yet. Investments support continued product development and initial marketing.

Our focus is on helping those companies refine their business, make critical hires, pivot when necessary and to grow the metrics needed to raise their first institutional round of venture capital. 

Follow-on Investments at Series A

Companies typically have found product-market-fit. Consistent/growing reoccurring revenue. Consistently meeting/exceeding milestones. Investments support scaling marketing, distribution, and customer support; product/service enhancements; expansion into new verticals.
